he town of Samtredia was developed in the West of Georgia, in the west of the Imereti region,  and borders the Samegrelo and Guria lands, In particular Abasha, Lanchkhuti, Vani, Khoni, Tskhaltubo and Chokhatauri municipalities. Its main part is located lowland of Colchis and extremities are spread out over Sajavakho’s tableland, where are located basically hilly villages. There are 36 429 hectares in our municipality.

          Samtredia has one of the main railway stations in the Georgian Rail system, and lies directly on a main highway traversing Georgia. Highways 1 and 12 pass through Samtredia for 31 kilometers. Between the Samtredia municipality and Kutaisi is 33.3 kilometers, and between Samtredia and Tbilisi is 260 kilometers. Samtredia is 65 kilometers from the port of Poti, and 113 kilometers from the port of Batumi. The David Aghmashenebeli International Airport is located 11 kilometers from Samtredia.

         Municipality is located around the Rioni river, which is 35 kilometers in length. The Tskhenitskali, Gubistsq’ali and Tchurtava rivers also connect with the Rioni River from the right, and the Tchognara and Khevisthq’ali connect from the left.

Municipality Division 

          Samtredia’s municipality is divided into 15 administrations, 56 districts (one of which is a city, one town, and 54 villages). From these 54 villages, 27 are high mountainous villages. The municipality’s administrative center is Samtredia.

Chagani wooden Church

The Chagani wooden Church is located in the center of the village Chagani in Samtredia municipality.

The Church counts more than 250 years. The Church is built without spikes and has an autonomous architecture.
